Terms of Use

By using the website GlobalDemo.org and its directly associated domains, a service which is provided to you by the dutch membership association The Campaign for Global Democracy (CGD), you are agreeing to be bound by the following terms and conditions.

1. Children

We want to protect childrens privacy. If you are younger than 13 you may not use GlobalDemo.org without your legal guardian.

2. Your privacy

Our privacy policy specifies and disclosures how we collect and use the data and information that you submit to us by using the website GlobalDemo.org. We encourage you to read our privacy policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

3. Rights in the content you submit

For the following paragraphs we define all information that you make publicly available on GlobalDemo.org as "content".

Personal information (name, e-mail address, password) that you submit to us via your user account settings will not be made publicly available and is therefore cleary excluded from the definition of "content".

3.1 Default license: Creative Commons Public License

Unless you specify otherwise, any and all works of authorship (“content”) copyrightable by you and posted by you to any forum are submitted under the terms of an Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons Public License. Under this license, you permit anyone to copy, distribute, display and perform your content, royalty-free, on the condition that they credit your authorship each time they do so. You also permit others to distribute derivative works of your content, but only if they do so under the same Attribution-ShareAlike license that governs your original content.

Amongst other things, this license permits RSS aggregators to copy, distribute, display and perform any content you submit to GlobalDemo.org (nearly all content on GlobalDemo.org is syndicated for RSS aggregation).

3.2 Options for more restictive license terms:

Label your submission with a full copyright notice, i.e., your name, the word “copyright” or symbol “©” and the year of first publication.

3.3 Presentation of your content on GlobalDemo.org

By posting content using the GlobalDemo.org website, you are granting the CGD a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and worldwide license to use your content in connection with the operation and hosting of GlobalDemo.org, including, without limitation, the license rights to copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat your content, and/or to incorporate it into a collective work. 

Comment: This means for example that we might encourage our users to translate the content you submitted for other user who do not speak the language in which you submitted your content. Another example: we might display snippets of content as teaser somewhere on the website.

4. Copyright Complaints

The CGD respects the intellectual property of others, and requires that the GlobalDemo.org-users do the same. Claims of copyright infringement received will be checked and content that violates law will be removed.

If you believe that your or the work of a client of yours has been copied and is accessible on this site in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, or that your intellectual property rights have been otherwise violated, please follow our instructions for reporting copyright infringements:

a) Send us the signature of the copyright owner or the person authorized to act on its behalf.

b) Send us a description of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.

c) Send us a description of the infringing material and information reasonably sufficient to permit the CGD to locate the material.

d) Send us your contact information, including your telephone number, address and e-mail address.

e) Send us a statement by you that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

f) Send us a statement that the information in the claim/report is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

5. Code of Conduct

Comment: GlobalDemo.org is a collective mostly user managed website and we ask you to think of the other users' benefit when posting content or modifying preexisting content. Please be aware that any content you submit in form of a wiki, event, entry to the library or entry to the table of organisations may be modified by any other users. Furthermore are we currently working on content guidelines, that will make more transparent, what the minimum requirements for library entries, events or entries to the table of organisations are. Until then moderators and the administrator (webmaster) will decide if new entries will be approved or not. Please contact us if you believe that any of the moderators are acting unreasonable.

5.1 Posting

The members of the CGD believe deeply in free speech. Given our role in offering this service and our liability, however, we must reserve the right to remove certain content that you may post. As a general matter, you may post content freely, so long as the content is not illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, infringing of intellectual property rights, invasive of privacy or otherwise injurious, objectionable or any form of unauthorized commercial or other unwanted communication (spam).
By posting content to the website, you warrant and represent that you either own or otherwise control all of the rights to that content, including, without limitation, all the rights necessary for you to provide, post, upload, input or submit the content, or that your use of the content is a protected fair use. You agree that you will not knowingly and with intent to defraud provide material and misleading false information. You represent and warrant also that the content you supply does not violate these Terms, and that you will indemnify and hold the CGD harmless for any and all claims resulting from content you supply. You acknowledge that the CGD does not pre-screen or regularly review all posted content, but that it shall have the right to remove in its sole discretion any content that it considers to violate these Terms and/or law.

5.2 Accessing

You understand that all content posted to Globaldemo.org is the sole responsibility of the individual who originally posted the content. You understand, also, that all opinions expressed by users of this site are expressed strictly in their individual capacities, and not as representatives of the CGD.
You agree that the CGD will not be liable, under any circumstances and in any way, for any errors or omissions, loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of use of any content posted on this site. You agree that you must evaluate and bear all risks associated with the use of any content, including any reliance on the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of such content.

5.3 Children

Collecting personal information from children under the age of 13 is prohibited. No content should be directed toward such children.

6. Registration and Security

In your own interest keep your contact information (e-mail address) up-to-date and make sure it is correct. Also take care of the security of your account by not letting anyone else access your account, not sharing your password and by logging out before leaving a computer unattended.
You may not hack or modify GlobalDemo.org nor submit malicious code or any viruses/worms.
The CGD reserves the right to refuse registration/service to anyone.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

This site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The CGD makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the site’s operation or the information, content or materials included on this site. To the full extent permissible by applicable law, the CGD hereby disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for any particular purpose. The CGD will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of or inability to use this site. You expressly agree that you use this site solely at your own risk.

8. Modification of These Terms of Use

The CGD reserves the right to change, at any time, at our sole discretion, the terms under which all services related to the website GlobalDemo.org are offered. You are responsible for regularly reviewing these terms. Your continued use of the services constitutes your agreement to all such terms.

Comment: We will be trying to make decisions in a democratic manner taking into account our users´ opinion. Also will we inform you about major changes in these terms by sending a newsletter to the e-mail address you provide in your account settings.
