Upcoming 'notifications' features

Hi all,

I hope to install/customise a notifications framework that means that anyone posting anywhere on the site, would be notified by email of follow-up comments.

Currently, users are emailed if there is a post/comment in a group they are subscribed to, but in the future, users will also be notified by email of any comments to posts that they have made or have themselves posted on.

Although this is a basic function on many CMSs - like WordPress - Drupal has not got this built in functionality.

I'd like to go for the Notifications framework, unless I hear anyone suggest otherwise.

There is a little bit of customisation (removing v confusing parts to user forms) that will have to take place to make it usable.

Hopefully we'll have this within a couple of weeks.

You can sort of see what it looks like on the test site if you go to the account page or see the 'subscribe to this post' links at the bottom of some posts. However, most of the action is behind the scenes..
